The Veltins-Arena's grass pitch is an 11,000-tonne trough that slides 340 metres outside the stadium along 16 steel rails in under four hours - the only pitch in the Bundesliga that physically leaves the building, because the enclosed stands block the sunlight the turf needs to grow.
