Aston Villa FC Tickets & Matchday Guide
Villa Park • Birmingham2025/26 Season
How to Buy Aston Villa FC Tickets
We cover every path into the stadium: official club channels, officially authorized hospitality partners, and vetted resellers. Each evaluated honestly with realistic expectations so you know exactly what to expect.
Official Aston Villa FC Tickets
Villa Park sells out for nearly every Premier League weekend. The club rebuilt its membership scheme for the 2025/26 season into a simpler Claret Membership tier, with the season-ticket holder Ticket Exchange now the most realistic route for international visitors when general sale runs out, which it usually does for marquee fixtures. The free My Villa Account is the underlying identity required for any ticket purchase, even general sale.
Quick reality check for visitors:
- • Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham, and the Second City Derby (when scheduled in the men's PL) sell out before any general sale window opens
- • Mid-table opponents like Bournemouth, Brentford, and Fulham often have non-member general sale availability in the days before kick-off
- • League Cup ties typically have the best non-member access of any home fixture
- • Champions League and European nights when Villa qualify follow members-first priority
Villa's membership tiers (2025/26):
- • Claret Membership: priority access to home tickets one match per cycle, 100 points toward the season-ticket waiting list, full Villa TV access, and a welcome pack
- • Claret Lite: discounted tier for existing season-ticket holders who want the membership benefits without paying for ticket priority they already have
- • My Villa Account is the free underlying identity at members.avfc.co.uk and is required before any ticket purchase
- • Membership purchase runs through membership.avfc.co.uk
How the ticket sale process works:
- • Members priority window opens first for each fixture, with one ticket per member per match
- • General sale opens after the members window only if tickets remain. For the biggest fixtures, they don't
- • Ticket Exchange is the official season-ticket holder resale system. Holders relist their seat and tickets re-enter the standard pool for any My Villa Account holder to buy at face value
- • The Ticket Exchange typically activates when a match has sold out, with late inventory dropping in the 48 hours before kickoff
Important for international visitors:
- • Tickets are 100% digital, delivered to the My Villa app on your phone
- • Villa does not name-personalise general PL tickets, but the ticket is tied to the buyer's account, and some high-demand fixtures may add ID checks at the turnstiles
- • You'll need a UK or international payment card and a verified email account, so create your My Villa Account well in advance
- • The North Stand is closed for the entire 2026/27 season for the Euro 2028 expansion, reducing capacity to roughly 37,000 next season before reopening at 50,000-plus in 2027/28
Villa Ticket Strategy
- Set a calendar alert for the moment the members priority window opens. Tickets for Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United disappear within minutes once general sale starts, if it opens at all
- Refresh the Ticket Exchange page in the 48 hours before kickoff. Season-ticket holders dump unused seats late, especially for midweek fixtures
- Buy Claret Membership if you're committed to a specific fixture. The membership cost is dwarfed by what marketplace listings charge for the same match

Aston Villa FC Ticket Marketplaces
When the members window closes and general sale never opens, marketplaces are your next stop. LiveFootballTickets is our preferred partner. They specialise in football and replace tickets if there's a problem. HelloTickets and StubHub round out the options.
Ticket resale platforms operate independently of Aston Villa FC and Matchday Guide. Clubs reserve the right to refuse entry for unauthorized tickets. All purchases are at your own risk. We recommend choosing vendors with buyer protection and checking ratings on Trustpilot.

- Marketplace prices for Villa fixtures spike in the final 72 hours, so if you're confident about your dates, buy 2-3 weeks out

Where to Stay for Aston Villa Matches
Birmingham city centre is the right base for almost every visitor. Witton is residential, with limited walkable 4-star options, so the 9-minute train from New Street to Witton makes a city-centre stay the obvious choice. The NEC and Solihull area works well for visitors flying into Birmingham Airport (BHX), and the Eastside district sits between the city centre and the rail corridor north to Aston.

View Hotel →Birmingham Hotel Strategy for Villa Matches
- Stay city centre, not Aston. The train link is fast, and Aston has nothing for visitors after the match
- Birmingham hotel rates spike sharply for marquee fixtures (Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal weekends), so book 6-plus weeks out
- If flying into BHX, the Genting at Resorts World means zero airport-to-hotel hassle, but you'll trade off matchday transit time to Villa Park
Getting to Villa Park
Villa Park sits 2 miles north of Birmingham city centre in the Aston district. Witton railway station (5-min walk) and Aston station (10-min walk) are the two rail options, both served by West Midlands Railway from Birmingham New Street. National Express West Midlands buses also run from the city centre, and walking from central Birmingham (around 50 min) is impractical for most visitors. Driving on matchday is heavily restricted by residential parking schemes.

West Midlands Railway
RecommendedWest Midlands Railway / National Rail
• Witton
5-min walk to Villa Park | Birmingham to Walsall via Witton | The closest rail station to Villa Park, around 500m from the Trinity Road Stand. Direct trains from Birmingham New Street take roughly 9 minutes.
• Aston
10-15 min walk to Villa Park | Cross-City Line, Birmingham to Walsall | Second-closest station, served by two rail lines so post-match service is more frequent. A slightly longer walk but a cleaner exit when Witton platform queues build up.
Journey time: Birmingham New Street to Witton, around 9 minutes. Aston around 10 minutes
Frequency: Every 30 minutes Mon-Sat daytime, hourly on Sundays, with additional matchday services
Cost: Standard West Midlands Railway single fare. Check the operator website for current pricing.
Tips:
- On busy matchdays, queue at New Street platform 6 or 7 early. The post-match return is congested for the first 30 minutes after full time
- Aston station has two rail lines so post-match service is more frequent there if you're willing to walk a bit further
- Buy a return ticket on arrival to skip the post-match ticket queue
National Express West Midlands Bus
National Express West Midlands (NXWM)
• Witton Square (Route 7)
Close to the stadium | Route 7 (Birmingham city centre to Perry Common) | Stops at Witton Square close to Villa Park. The most direct city-centre bus route to the ground.
• Witton Station (Routes 11A, 11C)
Adjacent to Witton railway station | Outer Circle 11A and 11C | The Outer Circle routes link to Witton station and connect to wider Birmingham districts.
Journey time: 25-35 minutes from city centre depending on traffic
Frequency: Every 10-20 minutes on most routes
Cost: Standard NXWM single or day-saver fare. Check the operator app for current pricing.
Tips:
- Trains beat buses for speed on matchday traffic. Use buses if you prefer a direct ride from a hotel not near a station
- The Lichfield Road bus stop on Route 67 is a 15-min walk from the stadium, useful if your hotel is along that corridor
Pre-Match Pubs Near Villa Park
UK pubs around football grounds enforce home-only policies on matchdays. Most Villa Park pubs check colours and scarves at the door for big fixtures. Travelling fans should head to The Yew Tree, which is the most consistently mixed pub in the area, or stay in the city centre and drink at a Birmingham Wetherspoon before the train to Witton.
The Holte Pub
Adjacent to Villa Park, on the Trinity Road side of the stadium
Atmosphere: Iconic home-fan pub, Live music, Multiple screens
The biggest pre-match home-fan pub at Villa Park, with live music, multiple screens, and claret-and-blue heritage. Underwent a major refurbishment in 2007 and operates as a partner venue with the club. Closest pub to the stadium turnstiles, with the loudest pre-match singing crowd in the area.
Entry notes: Home fans only on matchdays, with strict door policy for marquee fixtures. Arrive at least 90 minutes before kickoff for any high-demand match.
The Yew Tree
10-min walk from Villa Park, close to Witton station
Atmosphere: Sports bar, Reggae and dancehall, Beer garden
Recently revamped sports bar with HD screens showing Sky Sports and TNT Sports, plus a reggae, soul, and dancehall music identity. Beer garden and function room. Historically the more welcoming pub for travelling fans, though always check policy on the day for big fixtures.
Entry notes: Most consistently mixed pub in the area, but big fixtures may restrict away colours. Check matchday policy on arrival.
The Witton Arms
2-min walk from Villa Park on the Witton Road side
Atmosphere: Family-friendly, Multiple screens, Lively pre-match
Closest non-club pub to the ground after The Holte. Recent refurbishment, family-friendly during the day, and lively in the pre-match window. Active on social media in 2026 with matchday updates.
Entry notes: Home-fans-only on matchdays under current policy. Verify on the day, as policies can shift between fixtures.
The Aston Tavern
5-min walk from Villa Park on the Aston Hall Road side
Atmosphere: Restored Victorian pub, Heritage views, Stylish
Restored Victorian pub with a contemporary extension and a capacity of around 300, with views toward Aston Hall. Functions as both a pub and a small hotel and event venue. Historic 19th-century building with a stylish interior, popular as a pre-match home option.
Entry notes: Door policy can be strict on big fixtures. Arrive early to secure a table.
The Square Peg (JD Wetherspoon)
Birmingham city centre on Corporation Street, 9-min walk from New Street station
Atmosphere: Big Wetherspoon, City-centre, Pre-train
Large city-centre Wetherspoon with the longest bar in Birmingham at 82.5 feet. Refurbished in 2023, with reliable Wetherspoon pricing. Easy combination with the train ride to Witton, and useful for visitors who don't want to drink in Aston.
Entry notes: No matchday colour restriction as a city-centre Wetherspoon. Best pre-match option for travelling fans before the train.
Pre-Match Strategy
- For any high-demand fixture, get to The Holte or The Witton Arms at least 90 minutes before kickoff. Both reach capacity early and operate strict home-only policies
- Travelling fans should head to The Yew Tree (most consistently mixed pub in the area) or stay in the city centre and drink at The Square Peg before the train
- After the match, The Holte and The Yew Tree stay packed for an hour. If you don't want to fight the queue, walk straight to Aston station and ride back to New Street for a city-centre dinner
Matchday Traditions & Atmosphere
Pre-Match Build-Up
The walk from Witton or Aston station up Trinity Road into Villa Park is one of the more atmospheric arrivals in the Premier League, terraced housing, claret-and-blue scarves on lampposts, the ground emerging from a residential street rather than a redeveloped concourse. Home fans crowd into The Holte and the Aston Tavern from around two hours before kick-off. Food vans cluster on Witton Lane and around the perimeter, with the official fan zone areas operating on big-match days. The William McGregor statue on the Trinity Road side is a common pre-match meeting point and a reminder that the founder of the Football League itself was a Villa man.
Inside Villa Park
The Holte End at the south end is the spiritual home, two tiers, no executive boxes, three levels of concourse, and the loudest section of the ground. The 'Aston Villa! Aston Villa!' chant rolls round the stadium from the Holte Enders, and the claret-and-blue colour scheme dominates every stand. Villa Park has been the club's home continuously since 1897, making it the oldest top-flight stadium still in use in English football. The William McGregor statue outside Trinity Road honours the founder of the Football League itself, formed in 1888 with Villa as one of the original twelve members.
Second City Derby (vs Birmingham City)
Aston Villa vs Birmingham City is the Second City Derby, traditionally one of the most charged fixtures in English football. The two clubs hadn't met in the men's league since Villa's 2019 promotion to the Premier League, with Birmingham City spending those years in the Championship and briefly League One. When the men's fixture returns to the league calendar, expect the highest-demand ticket of the season. Villa's section of the rivalry runs through the Holte End, and the atmosphere on derby day is the most charged at Villa Park, with both sets of ultras producing their most elaborate displays.
The Holte End Legacy
The Holte End is named for Sir Thomas Holte, the 17th-century landowner who built Aston Hall. Villa Park sits in the former grounds of Aston Lower Grounds, a Victorian amusement park on Holte family land. In its terraced prime before the 1994/95 rebuild, the Holte End held nearly 30,000 fans and was one of the largest single end-stands in English football. The current two-tier structure (Lower Holte and Upper Holte) was completed in 1995 and remains the loudest, most committed section of the ground. For atmosphere over pure sightlines, this is the seat to ask for.
Post-Match
Post-match exits funnel toward Witton (5-min walk) and Aston (10-min walk) stations. West Midlands Railway runs additional matchday services, but expect platform queues for the first 30 minutes after the whistle. The Holte and the Yew Tree stay packed for an hour after full time. Birmingham city centre is 9-15 minutes away by train (Witton or Aston to New Street), and the city's nightlife on Broad Street and around The Mailbox is an easy walk from New Street for visitors basing themselves centrally.
Visitor Tips
- Aim for the Holte End if you want atmosphere over pure view. The Trinity Road Stand has better sightlines but a quieter crowd
- The McGregor statue is the easiest meeting point if you're meeting up with friends. It's unmissable on the Trinity Road side
- After the match, walk to Aston station instead of Witton. It's slightly further but two rail lines run from there, so platform queues clear faster
