This is the single most important thing to know before planning a Ferencvaros trip: Groupama Arena runs a strict supporter card system. For any normal ticket, every fan aged 6 and over needs a personal Fradi supporter card (szurkoloi kartya), and it can only be issued in person at the stadium, never online. - • The supporter card is compulsory for all standard tickets. You cannot enter a normal seat without one, and you cannot register for it online. Plan to arrive in Budapest at least a day before the match
- • The card is issued in person at the Groupama Arena ticket and registration office on Ulloi ut. A passport or national ID is accepted, so foreign visitors can register. It takes only a few minutes and involves a small one-time fee
- • VIP hospitality tickets need no supporter card. If you want to avoid the registration trip entirely, this is the cleanest route for overseas fans
- • The Ujpest derby (the Budapest eternal derby) and big European nights are the highest-demand fixtures. Everything else is usually accessible
How the supporter card system works:
- • The card is an anti-hooliganism measure with biometric registration, which is why it must be done face to face and cannot be completed on the website
- • Register at the ticket office at Groupama Arena, Ulloi ut 129. It is open on weekdays and Saturday mornings, with extended hours on matchdays
- • Bring your passport. Once you hold the card, it is linked to your tickets for entry, so the name on the ticket and the card must match at the gate
The foreign-visitor buying process, step by step:
- • Buy a ticket voucher online at meccsjegy.fradi.hu, the official Fradi ticketing platform, which has an English option
- • Take that voucher, plus your passport, to the stadium ticket office to register your supporter card and exchange the voucher for your actual match ticket
- • Alternatively, do the whole thing at the ticket office in one visit: register the card and buy the ticket together. Either way, budget time before matchday, as the office gets busy close to kickoff
Pricing and where to sit:
- • Face value at Groupama Arena is low by Western European standards. Check meccsjegy.fradi.hu for current pricing by sector and opponent
- • The B-Kozep sections behind the goal are the ultras' home and the loudest part of the ground. The long side stands give the best all-round view for a first visit
- • Away supporters are allocated sector E, accessed through gate 4
Ferencvaros Ticket Strategy
- The supporter card is the whole game here. If you are only in Budapest for the match day itself, get to the stadium ticket office as early as it opens, or buy VIP hospitality and skip the card entirely
- Bring your physical passport, not a photo of it. The registration is biometric and done in person
- For the Ujpest derby and European knockout nights, sort your card and ticket well in advance. For a routine NB I league game, the card step is the only real hurdle

2 to 6-minute walk to the stadium gates | M3 (Blue Line) | Nepliget station is immediately next to Groupama Arena on the M3 blue line, which runs the length of Pest through the city centre. Follow the signs from the station exit toward the stadium. The blue line is the single best way in and out.
Journey time: Around 10 to 15 minutes from central Pest stops such as Kalvin ter, Ferenciek tere or Deak Ferenc ter (change to M3). From Liszt Ferenc Airport, take the 100E airport coach to Kalvin ter, then M3 to Nepliget.
Frequency: Every few minutes during the day, with heavy service on matchdays.

Tips:
- Nepliget is also Budapest's main international coach terminal, so the area is well signposted and easy to find
- After the match the metro platform gets crowded for 15 to 20 minutes. Waiting a few minutes or walking a stop can mean a less packed train

BKK Trams 1 and 24

Short walk to the stadium | Tram 1 (along Konyves Kalman korut), Tram 24 | Tram 1 runs along the outer ring road (Konyves Kalman korut) past the stadium and links to the Puskas Arena and other ring-road stops. Tram 24 connects the area toward Keleti railway station via Nagyvarad ter. Both are handy if you are coming from the eastern side of the city rather than the centre.
Journey time: Varies by starting point. Tram 1 is useful for cross-town journeys that avoid changing onto the metro.
Frequency: Roughly every 10 minutes into the evening.
Cost: Standard BKK ticket, same fare system as the metro.
Tips:
- Tram 1 is a good option if you are staying near the Puskas Arena or the eastern ring road
- For most visitors coming from central Pest, the M3 metro is faster and simpler than the tram
Pre-Match Bars for Ferencvaros Matches
Ferencvaros is a District IX club and the pre-match drinking is concentrated in small, no-frills presszo bars right around Nepliget station and the metro underpass, a short walk from the ground. These are genuine Fradi spots, cash-friendly and light on English, but full of green-and-white atmosphere. Important safety note: Ujpest, Fradi's biggest rivals, are based in District IV in the north of Pest, an entirely separate part of the city. Stick to the District IX and Nepliget venues below or neutral central bars on the M3 line, and keep colours discreet on derby day.

In the Nepliget metro underpass, a few minutes from the stadium
Atmosphere: Tiny local presszo, Vintage, Regulars
A small, old-school drinking den in the Nepliget underpass where local regulars sip coffee and beer under black-and-white photos on the wall. It is about as authentic and unpolished as Budapest bars get, and a genuine slice of the neighbourhood on the way to the ground.
Entry notes: Open to all but very small, so it fills fast. Cash only and no English. Weekday hours are shorter, so it may be closed for late evening kickoffs.

In the Nepliget underpass, a few minutes from the stadium
Atmosphere: Basic food bar, Cheap eats, FTC memorabilia
A cheap-and-cheerful food-and-drink bar in the Nepliget underpass, serving hot food (fried chicken, kolbasz, burgers) alongside beer and wine, with FTC bits and pieces on display. Not fancy, but a handy spot to eat and grab a pint before walking to the stadium.
Entry notes: Open to all. Cash-friendly, no English, no toilet on site. Best for a quick bite and a beer rather than a long session.
Pre-Match Strategy
- The Nepliget bars are basic and cash-oriented. Carry some forint, as cards and euros are not always accepted
- For more variety, drink in central Pest first (the District IX Raday utca bar street near Kalvin ter is on the M3 line) and ride the blue line to Nepliget
- Avoid Ujpest-associated bars entirely. They are in District IV in the north of the city, a completely different area from Fradi's District IX
Matchday Traditions & Atmosphere
Pre-Match Build-Up
Groupama Arena sits on Ulloi ut in the Ferencvaros district (District IX) in south-east Pest, right beside Nepliget metro station. Fans arrive along the wide avenue and gather at the small presszo bars around the Nepliget stop and metro underpass, most of them draped in green and white with Fradi memorabilia inside. The club's identity is built around the eagle crest and the green-and-white colours, and scarf and shirt sellers set up near the main entrance and the statue of club legend Florian Albert. The stadium opened in 2014 on the site of the old Ulloi ut ground, so the modern arena still carries the traditions of the historic terrace.
Inside Groupama Arena
The heart of the noise is the B-Kozep (Sector B) behind the goal, home to the Green Monsters ultras, formed in 1995. The B-Kozep name is a deliberate nod to the historic middle terrace of the old Ulloi ut stadium, and the group fills sections behind the goal with flags, coordinated tifo displays and pyrotechnics on the biggest nights. Fradi are the most successful club in Hungary, and European visitors such as Red Star Belgrade, Monaco and Olympiacos have drawn near-capacity, intense crowds. For a first visit, the long side stands give the best view while still catching the full sound from the Green Monsters' end.
The Budapest Derby (vs Ujpest)
Ferencvaros versus Ujpest is Hungary's biggest rivalry, often called the eternal derby (orokrangado). Ujpest are based in District IV in the north of Pest, a completely different part of the city, and the two fanbases do not mix. The atmosphere for this fixture is the most charged of the season, with heavy police presence and the Green Monsters producing their most elaborate displays. Fradi also share an older rivalry with MTK. If you are visiting for the derby, sort your ticket and supporter card early and keep club colours discreet away from the stadium.
Post-Match
After full time the crowd funnels back to Nepliget metro, which is right next to the ground, so the M3 blue line gets busy for 15 to 20 minutes. Many fans stay for a drink at the bars around Nepliget before heading back into the centre, while others take the metro straight to the Kalvin ter and city-centre stops. Budapest's nightlife, including the ruin bars of the District VII Jewish quarter, is an easy metro ride from the stadium.
