The Fan Card and membership system:

Neo Faliro station on Metro Line 1 sits right next to the ground, with elevated pedestrian walkways leading directly to the main entrance. Line 1 is the green line, running from central Athens down to Piraeus, and the stadium is the stop before the Piraeus terminus.

Journey time: About 15 minutes from central Athens (Monastiraki, Thiseio, Omonia). One stop (a couple of minutes) from Piraeus port. From Athens Airport, take Metro Line 3 (Blue) to Monastiraki and change to Line 1 (Green), roughly 60 to 75 minutes total.
Frequency: Frequent services through the day, with extra trains on matchdays.
Cost: Standard Athens transport ticket, valid across metro, tram, and bus. Buy at station machines or use a contactless transport card.
Tips:
- The green line runs through the tourist centre of Athens (Monastiraki, Thiseio), so a direct ride from most central hotels is easy
- After the match, Neo Faliro is packed. Waiting 15 to 20 minutes for the crowd to thin, or walking toward Piraeus, makes for a smoother journey

Pre-Match Bars for Olympiacos Matches
Important for visitors: the entire city of Piraeus is Olympiacos territory. The rival Panathinaikos fanbase is based in central Athens, in a completely different part of the metropolitan area, so the bars around the stadium and port are firmly red-and-white and there is no rival-pub risk here. The scene right by the ground is small rather than a big pub strip, so the two below are the reliable pre-match options, with the Piraeus waterfront and Mikrolimano marina better for after the match.

Entry notes: Open to all. Very small, so it fills quickly on matchday. Home-fan atmosphere.
Pre-Match Bar Tips
- The near-stadium scene is compact. Modello at the station and Sentra Kalamaki by the ground are the two dependable pre-match stops
- For after the match, head to the Mikrolimano marina or the central Piraeus waterfront for fish tavernas and bars
- Piraeus is strongly Olympiacos. On derby days especially, neutrals should avoid wearing rival colours anywhere in the city

Pre-Match Build-Up
Olympiacos is the club of Piraeus, Greece's great port city just southwest of Athens, and the whole area is red-and-white territory on matchday. Fans arrive at Neo Faliro by Metro Line 1, funnelling across the elevated walkways straight into the stadium. The bars around the ground and along the Piraeus waterfront fill up early. The club's nickname is Thrylos, meaning 'Legend', a reference to the great side of the 1930s built around the five Adrianopoulos brothers, and you'll see and hear it everywhere.
Inside Georgios Karaiskakis
The heart of the noise is Gate 7 (Thyra 7), the home of the Olympiacos ultras, known for large choreographed tifo displays, flags, and relentless chanting through the whole match. The stadium was completely rebuilt for the 2004 Athens Olympics, which makes it a compact, steep, modern bowl where sound carries. On derby nights against Panathinaikos or AEK the atmosphere is among the most intense in Europe. A section of Gate 7 carries a permanent memorial to the 1981 disaster, described in the tip below.
The Derby of the Eternal Enemies (vs Panathinaikos)
Olympiacos versus Panathinaikos is one of the fiercest rivalries in world football, routinely listed alongside Boca-River and the Old Firm. It splits along old class and geography lines: Olympiacos, founded in 1925, is the working-class club of the port of Piraeus, while Panathinaikos, founded in 1908, represents central Athens. The two fanbases are based in completely different parts of the wider Athens area, and matchdays between them come with heavy policing and, frequently, away-fan bans. If your visit lands on this fixture, hospitality is the sensible route.
Post-Match
After the whistle, Neo Faliro station gets very busy as the crowd heads back onto Metro Line 1. Many fans carry on into central Piraeus or along the coast. The Mikrolimano marina, a short ride or walk away, is full of fish tavernas and bars and is a good spot to wind down. Central Athens is about 15 minutes back up the green line if you're based there.
Visitor Tips
- Arrive at least 60 minutes early. Digital entry through the Gov.gr Wallet app takes longer the first time, and Neo Faliro station is busy before kickoff
- Piraeus is strongly Olympiacos territory and not welcoming to visiting fans on derby days. If you're neutral, avoid colours of either rival club
- The side stands give the best mix of view and atmosphere for first-timers. Gate 7 is loud but dominated by organized ultras
Olympiacos Museum & Stadium Tour
