Rapid's ticketing system:

- • For standard fixtures you can usually buy in the days before the match, sometimes on matchday itself

Where you sit:
- • Block West is the home ultras terrace and the loudest part of the ground. It is standing-only for domestic matches and dominated by organized supporter groups

Getting to the Allianz Stadion
The Allianz Stadion is in Huetteldorf at the western end of Vienna, and public transport is by far the easiest way there. The U4 U-Bahn terminates at Huetteldorf right by the ground, and the same station is a major S-Bahn and regional rail interchange. Allow extra time on matchdays as the station gets busy.

About a 5 to 10 minute walk to the stadium | U4 (green) | Huetteldorf is the western terminus of the U4. Follow the crowds out towards Keisslergasse and the stadium is a short signed walk away. The station gets very busy before kickoff and straight after the final whistle.
Journey time: Around 15 to 20 minutes from central Vienna (Karlsplatz, Schwedenplatz) on the U4 direct to Huetteldorf.
Frequency: Every few minutes during peak times, with extra services on matchdays.
Cost: Standard Wiener Linien single ticket, or a 24/48/72-hour pass covering all U-Bahn, tram and S-Bahn in the core zone.
Tips:
- The U4 runs direct from Karlsplatz, Schoenbrunn and Schwedenplatz, so most central hotels have a one-line journey with no changes
- After the match the platforms fill quickly. Waiting a few minutes for the crush to clear makes for an easier ride back
- Buy a multi-day Wiener Linien pass if you are in Vienna for a few days, rather than single tickets each way
S-Bahn and Regional Rail

Same station as the U4, about a 5 to 10 minute walk to the stadium | S45 (Vorortelinie), S50, Regional trains | Huetteldorf is a combined U-Bahn, S-Bahn and regional rail hub. The S45 Vorortelinie links it around the west and north of the city, and westbound regional and S50 services also call here, giving you an alternative to the U4.
Journey time: Varies by origin. Useful if you are coming from the west of Vienna or connecting off a regional service rather than crossing the centre.
Frequency: Regular daytime services on the S45 and westbound lines.
Cost: Covered by a standard Wiener Linien core-zone ticket within the city.
Tips:
- If you are staying in the west of Vienna, the S45 can be quicker than doubling back to the U4
- The rail and U-Bahn platforms share the same Huetteldorf interchange, so it is easy to switch between them
Tram
Wiener Linien
• Baumgarten / Deutschordenstrasse
About a 10 minute walk to the stadium | Tram 49, Tram 52 | Trams 49 and 52 run west from the city and stop near Deutschordenstrasse, a short walk from the ground. A scenic alternative to the U-Bahn, though usually slower than the direct U4.
Journey time: Longer than the U4 from the centre, but useful from areas the tram serves directly.
Frequency: Regular Wiener Linien tram service.
Cost: Standard Wiener Linien ticket, same as the U-Bahn.
Tips:
- The U4 is faster and less crowded near kickoff. The trams are a pleasant option if you are already on the route
Pre-Match Bars for Rapid Vienna Matches
Rapid's pre-match scene is genuinely walkable, clustered around Huetteldorf station and the streets by the stadium in western Vienna. Traditional Viennese Gasthaeuser here fill with green-and-white before kickoff. Important for derby day: this is Rapid territory in the west of the city. Austria Wien's fans gather across town near the Generali Arena in Favoriten, so stick to Huetteldorf and central Vienna and avoid Favoriten if you are wearing Rapid colours.
Gasthaus Peschta

Atmosphere: Traditional Wiener Gasthaus, Rapid institution, Lively
A classic Viennese Gasthaus directly across from Huetteldorf station, often voted the favourite pub in the district. The walls carry framed Rapid line-ups going back decades, the food is hearty and traditional (Schnitzel, boiled beef, roasts), and it fills with the 'Rapid family' on matchdays. Rated around 4.6 on Google.
Entry notes: Open to all fans and welcoming to visitors, but it gets packed before and after home matches. Arrive early or expect a wait.
Stueberl zum Weststadion
On Deutschordenstrasse, a short walk from the stadium
Atmosphere: Cosy Rapid local, Wood-panelled, Traditional
A timeless little Rapid pub near the ground, its wooden interior plastered with Rapid line-ups season by season. Home-style cooking and Ottakringer beer on tap, with a small outdoor seating area. A proper supporters' local rather than a tourist spot, a natural stop before or after the match.
Entry notes: Small and popular with regulars, so it fills quickly on matchdays. Welcoming to visiting fans.
Stag's Head
On Keisslergasse, opposite the stadium by the club shop
Atmosphere: Pub-restaurant, International beers, Relaxed
A comfortable pub-restaurant right across from the ground by the Rapid club shop, pouring its own Stag's Head beer alongside Guinness, Kilkenny and Budweiser, with a full food menu. Handy for a sit-down meal and a pint before kickoff. It opens specially on Sundays and Mondays when Rapid play at home.
Entry notes: Open to all. Normally closed Sunday and Monday except for SK Rapid home matches, so check the fixture. Book a table for busy fixtures.
Pre-Match Strategy
- Everything is walkable from Huetteldorf station, so you can hop between Peschta, the Stueberl and Stag's Head without leaving the stadium area
- Gasthaus Peschta is the pick for a traditional Viennese feed and the full Rapid-family atmosphere
- On derby day, keep the drinking to Huetteldorf and central Vienna. Austria Wien's Favoriten heartland is the other side of the city and best avoided in Rapid colours
Matchday Traditions & Atmosphere
Pre-Match Build-Up
Rapid fans stream out to Huetteldorf in western Vienna, the last stop on the U4, from lunchtime onwards. The traditional Gasthaeuser around Huetteldorf station and along Keisslergasse fill up early, and drink and food stalls appear on the walk to the ground. Green-and-white is everywhere. Rapid are Austria's best-supported club and its record champions, so even a standard league match draws a committed home crowd well before kickoff.
Block West and the Rapidviertelstunde
The home end is Block West, a standing terrace that holds around 8,500 and carries the name of the legendary old Westtribuene. It is run by Ultras Rapid, whose Block West group dates to 1988 and is often called the oldest active ultras group in the German-speaking world, alongside the Tornados and the Lords. Expect constant singing, flags, tifos and flares. The signature moment is the Rapidviertelstunde, the 'Rapid Quarter-Hour': from around the 75th minute the whole stadium claps in rhythm to drive the team through the final 15 minutes, a tradition going back to the 1920s. Ottakringer beer is sold inside, poured fast through Beerjet taps.
The Vienna Derby (vs Austria Wien)
Rapid against Austria Wien is one of the oldest and fiercest derbies in Europe. Austria Wien play across the city at the Generali Arena in Favoriten, a completely different district in southern Vienna, so the two fanbases occupy separate parts of the city on derby day. It is the most intense fixture of Rapid's season and the hardest ticket to get. If you are heading to a derby, keep your colours to Rapid areas in the west and avoid Austria Wien's Favoriten heartland.
Post-Match
After the whistle, most fans funnel back to Huetteldorf station for the U4 and S-Bahn, which get busy for 20 to 30 minutes. The Gasthaeuser around the station stay packed after home matches, and many supporters head back into central Vienna, about 15 to 20 minutes away on the U4, for food and drinks.
Visitor Tips
- Block West is standing-only for league matches and dominated by ultras. Long-side sectors are better for a first visit with a seat and a view
- Watch for the Rapidviertelstunde from the 75th minute, when the whole ground claps the team home. It is Rapid's defining ritual
- The stadium reverts to its neutral name, the Weststadion, for UEFA matches, when standing areas become seats and capacity drops
Allianz Stadion Tour and Rapideum Museum
Rapid's stadium tour pairs a walk through the Allianz Stadion with the Rapideum, the club museum built right next to the players' dressing room. The Rapideum packs over a century of Rapid history into an interactive space, with display cases, video stations, stadium models and dozens of hidden drawers to open. The guided tour takes you behind the scenes of the ground itself.
Duration
Around 90 minutes for the combined stadium and Rapideum tour (about 45 minutes each). Matchday tours run longer.
Schedule
The Rapideum museum can be visited without booking, generally Monday to Saturday late morning to early evening, and on match Sundays and public holidays from around three hours before kickoff. The stadium interior is accessible only on pre-booked guided tours, which run on regular published dates. No stadium tours during matches or setup.
