Official RB Leipzig Tickets

Face Value

Red Bull Arena holds around 47,069 fans. Unlike most Bundesliga clubs, RB Leipzig does not require a paid membership for the majority of individual match tickets - you simply register a free RBLogin account and buy through the official ticket shop. For the biggest fixtures (Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Champions League), demand is high and tickets sell out fast, but the system is genuinely accessible for international visitors on lower-demand matchdays.

Quick reality check for visitors:
  • Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Champions League nights: High demand, sell out quickly. Check the official ticket shop as soon as sales open, or use hospitality for guaranteed entry
  • Mid-table Bundesliga opponents: Often available in general sale without a supporting membership. These are the best target fixtures for first-time visitors
  • DFB-Pokal (domestic cup) earlier rounds: Usually good availability. A solid option for those flexible on dates
  • Official ticket exchange (ticketboerse.rbleipzig.com): Season ticket holders can list unused tickets at face value. Worth checking closer to matchday for sold-out games
How the RBL ticket system works:
  • Tickets are sold exclusively online through the official RBL ticket shop at tickets.rbleipzig.com. You need a free RBLogin account to purchase - registration is straightforward and open to all
  • No paid membership is required for most general sale tickets. This is a key advantage over many German clubs where season ticket holders dominate and membership is effectively mandatory
  • Supporting memberships (Fördermitgliedschaft) exist in Bronze, Silver, and Gold tiers and provide earlier purchase windows for high-demand fixtures, but they are optional for most matches
  • Tickets are 100% digital and delivered to the RBL Ticket App. Bring your phone and a valid ID - entry is via digital scan at the turnstiles
  • RB Leipzig strictly enforces its anti-touting rules. The club states that reselling through unofficial platforms is illegal and may result in entry denial
The supporting membership system (optional but useful):
  • A Fördermitgliedschaft gives priority purchase access ahead of general public for sold-out or high-demand fixtures - useful if you plan multiple visits or are targeting a Bayern Munich home game
  • Bronze, Silver, and Gold tiers are available, with each offering a different purchase window priority. Check rbleipzig.com for current annual fees
  • One ticket per membership. Even with a supporting membership, getting through for the biggest fixtures is not guaranteed
  • For occasional visitors, the free RBLogin account is sufficient for most lower-to-mid-demand games
The RBL Ticket Exchange (official resale):
  • Season ticket holders can list unused tickets via the official exchange at ticketboerse.rbleipzig.com. These are valid face-value tickets transferred through the club's own system
  • Log in with your RBLogin credentials to check current availability. The exchange operates closest to matchday as holders release seats they cannot use
  • Face value only - not subject to secondary market markups
  • The official exchange is the safest fallback for sold-out matches before turning to secondary marketplaces
What is realistically accessible without a supporting membership:
  • Most Bundesliga fixtures against mid-table opposition: Available in general sale through tickets.rbleipzig.com once sales open
  • DFB-Pokal earlier rounds: Good availability, often the easiest entry point for first-time visitors
  • Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund at home: Very limited. Supporting membership helps but does not guarantee access. Hospitality is the most reliable route for these fixtures
  • Champions League group and knockout stages: High demand across all tiers. Plan early and consider hospitality for marquee European nights
💡

RB Leipzig Ticket Strategy

  • Create your free RBLogin account before you need tickets - registration is quick and you will need it to buy through the official shop
  • Mid-table Bundesliga fixtures are the most realistic target for general sale tickets without a supporting membership. Book as soon as sales open
  • For Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund home games, go straight to hospitality rather than waiting for a general sale that may never open to non-members
  • The official ticket exchange (ticketboerse.rbleipzig.com) is worth checking in the week before any sold-out fixture as season ticket holders release seats

  • Book as far ahead as possible for the big fixtures - hospitality inventory for top-of-the-table clashes and European nights goes quickly

Secondary market platforms provide the widest availability for sold-out RB Leipzig fixtures. German Bundesliga tickets can be name-personalized, so buyer protection and ID verification policies matter. Use reputable platforms only.

Ticket resale platforms operate independently of RB Leipzig and Matchday Guide. Clubs reserve the right to refuse entry for unauthorized tickets. All purchases are at your own risk. We recommend choosing vendors with buyer protection and checking ratings on Trustpilot.

Marketplace Safety Tips

  • German Bundesliga tickets can be name-personalized and subject to ID checks at the gate. Ensure your marketplace has clear name-change or transfer policies before purchasing
  • Compare prices across platforms - markups vary significantly for Bayern Munich and Champions League knockout fixtures
  • Check the official RBL Ticket Exchange (ticketboerse.rbleipzig.com) first - face value is always better than a secondary markup

Leipzig Hotel Strategy for RB Leipzig Matches

  • Staying in central Leipzig (city centre or near Hauptbahnhof) gives the best combination of tram access to Red Bull Arena and proximity to Leipzig's restaurants and bars
  • Book well in advance for Bayern Munich and Champions League home games - Leipzig fills up and hotel prices spike significantly on these dates
  • All city centre hotels are within a short tram ride of the stadium on LVB lines 3, 7, or 15. The journey is around 7-10 minutes from the main central stops

Getting to Red Bull Arena

Red Bull Arena sits within the Sportforum complex west of Leipzig city centre. The LVB tram network connects the stadium directly to the city centre and Hauptbahnhof in around 7-10 minutes. Public transport is the standard matchday option - tram tickets are included with match tickets for most fixtures, and parking near the stadium on matchdays is very limited.

Tram

Recommended

LVB (Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe)

Sportforum (Am Sportforum)

5-minute walk to the stadium | Tram 3 (direction Knautkleeberg), Tram 7 (direction Boehlitz-Ehrenberg), Tram 15 (direction Miltitz) | Sportforum is the closest stop to Red Bull Arena - around a 5-minute walk from the stadium entrance. The stadium is visible from the stop. This is the stop to use for match arrivals. Lines 3, 7, and 15 all serve Sportforum from the city centre and Hauptbahnhof.

Waldplatz

One stop before Sportforum, around 10-15 minute walk to stadium | Tram 3, Tram 7, Tram 8, Tram 15 | Waldplatz is one stop before Sportforum and is the location of the main pre-match pub area (Mick's Pub and other bars on Waldstrasse). Alight here if you want to stop for a drink before the match, then walk the final stretch or take the next tram to Sportforum.

Journey time: Around 7-10 minutes from Leipzig Hauptbahnhof (main station) to Sportforum.
Frequency: Frequent service on matchdays. LVB typically increases tram frequency for major fixtures.
Cost: Match tickets include free travel on LVB trams throughout Leipzig on matchday (transport zone 110). Valid four hours before and four hours after the event. Check your ticket for confirmation.

Tips:

  • Your match ticket is valid as a free tram ticket on LVB services in transport zone 110 on matchday - show it to the driver or inspector
  • Trams fill up fast in the 30 minutes before kickoff. Aim to board at least 40 minutes ahead if travelling from the city centre
  • Post-match: the Sportforum stop gets very crowded immediately after the final whistle. Waiting 10-15 minutes before boarding saves significant queuing time

Walking

From Waldplatz Area

On foot

Waldplatz to Red Bull Arena

Around 15-minute walk through the Sportforum complex | | From Waldplatz, the walk to the stadium follows Jahnallee and enters the Sportforum from the north. Many fans walk this stretch after stopping at the Waldplatz pre-match bars, making it a pleasant approach on warmer matchdays. The path through the sports complex is easy to navigate.

Journey time: Around 15 minutes on foot from Waldplatz to the stadium entrance.
Frequency: Walking is always available and avoids post-match tram congestion.
Cost: Free.

Tips:

  • Walking from Waldplatz is a good option if you have had a pre-match drink in the area - it takes 15 minutes and avoids the tram scramble
  • The post-match walk back to Waldplatz is often faster than waiting for a packed tram immediately after the final whistle

Pre-Match Pubs for RB Leipzig Matches

There are no pubs directly next to Red Bull Arena - the stadium sits in the Sportforum sports complex. The main pre-match pub hub is the Waldplatz area, one tram stop before the stadium on lines 3, 7, and 15. RB Leipzig does not share Leipzig with a rival Bundesliga club, so there are no rival fan territory concerns.

Mick's Pub

At Waldplatz tram stop (Waldstrasse 1, corner of Jahnallee), around 15-minute walk from stadium

Atmosphere: Sports bar, RB Leipzig themed, Local fans

The most established pre-match pub for RB Leipzig fans. Sits at the corner of Jahnallee and Waldstrasse, the natural first stop off the tram from the city centre. RB Leipzig-themed decor, outdoor seating popular in warmer months. Guinness and local Ur-Krostitzer on draught. Opens from 5pm on matchdays.

Entry notes: Open to all fans. Gets crowded in the final hour before kickoff. Arrive early on big matchday fixtures.

Sky-Pub Leipzig

At Waldplatz area (Waldstrasse 29), around 15-minute walk from stadium

Atmosphere: Corner sports bar, TV football, Matchday crowds

A corner bar at Waldstrasse 29 decorated with football scarves and TVs showing all Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and Champions League fixtures. Described on the local fan forum as an RB pub where away fans are also welcome. Opens from 3pm on weekends - earlier than Mick's Pub, making it the better option for early afternoon kickoffs.

Entry notes: Open to all. Opens 5pm on weekdays, 3pm on weekends. Closed Mondays.

Schrebers Gasthaus and Biergarten

Around 10-minute walk from Red Bull Arena, off Jahnallee near the stadium approach

Atmosphere: Beer garden, Relaxed, Pre-match drinks in warmer months

A traditional gasthaus and beer garden set among large old trees, located down a side street off Jahnallee near the stadium approach. Confirmed in a September 2025 matchday account as a popular spot for fans who arrive early and prefer a quieter option before heading to the ground. Serves Czech and craft beers alongside food.

Entry notes: Open to all. Primarily a warm-weather option - the beer garden is the draw. Check opening hours on match weekends as they can vary.

Cliff's Brauwerk

Around 15-minute walk from Red Bull Arena, on Leibnizstrasse

Atmosphere: Craft brewery, Relaxed, Post-match more than pre-match

Leipzig's first craft microbrewery, in a cellar vault of an old townhouse since 2015. Fills with football fans after matches - a Covert Football Trips account from September 2025 describes it as busy with fans in the hour after an RB Leipzig game. Small venue, around 20 seats. Better suited to post-match than pre-match given its evening opening times.

Entry notes: Open to all. Opens at 5pm Tuesday-Friday and 4pm Saturday. Closed Sunday and Monday - not suitable if the match falls on those days. Table reservations accepted for busy fixtures.

Drallewatsch bar strip (Barfussgasschen area)

City centre, 7-10 minute tram ride from Red Bull Arena

Atmosphere: Variety of bars and pubs, City centre, Pre-match build-up

Leipzig's most concentrated bar and pub area, in the Barfussgasschen, Fleischergasse, and Klostergasse streets in the old town. A good option for pre-match drinks if you are staying in the city centre before taking the tram to the stadium. Also popular with RB Leipzig fans post-match. Offers more variety than the Waldplatz area.

Entry notes: Public bars, no restrictions. Take tram lines 3, 7, or 15 to Sportforum or Waldplatz from city centre stops.

💡

Pre-Match Strategy

  • For the most convenient pre-match setup: take the tram to Waldplatz, have a drink at Mick's Pub or Sky-Pub, then walk or take the next tram one stop to Sportforum
  • Sky-Pub opens at 3pm on weekends - use it for early afternoon kickoffs when Mick's Pub is not yet open
  • Cliff's Brauwerk is the best post-match option in the area, but check the days it opens - it is closed Sunday and Monday
  • City centre bars in the Drallewatsch area are a good alternative if you prefer more variety before taking the tram to the stadium

Matchday Traditions and Atmosphere

Pre-Match Build-Up

There are no bars immediately adjacent to Red Bull Arena - the stadium sits within the Sportforum sports complex west of the city centre. The hub of pre-match drinking is Waldplatz, one tram stop before the stadium on lines 3, 7, and 15. Mick's Pub sits at the corner of Jahnallee and Waldstrasse (Waldstrasse 1), RB Leipzig-themed with outdoor seating and Guinness and Ur-Krostitzer on draught - it opens from 5pm and is the standard first stop for fans arriving by tram from the city. Sky-Pub Leipzig at Waldstrasse 29 is a corner bar decorated with football scarves and TVs showing all Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and Champions League fixtures, opening from 3pm on weekends. Schrebers Gasthaus and Biergarten, a beer garden down a side street off Jahnallee near the stadium approach, is around a 10-minute walk from Red Bull Arena and popular with fans on warmer matchdays. All three are within walking distance of each other in the Waldplatz area.

Inside Red Bull Arena

Red Bull Arena is a modern purpose-built bowl with a large concourse, good sightlines, and cashless-only payment at concessions. Sections B and D behind both goals are the loudest areas and strictly home supporters. The stadium roof design amplifies crowd noise well. RB Leipzig's corporate ownership model - Red Bull controls the club through a 17-member association, effectively bypassing the spirit of Germany's 50+1 rule - makes it one of the most controversial clubs in German football. Many Bundesliga fan groups boycott away trips to Leipzig and display protest banners. Visiting fans from opposing clubs will find a smaller away following than at most Bundesliga grounds as a result. The home atmosphere is organized but has drawn internal criticism from Leipzig's own supporters - the standing section often fills with general ticket buyers rather than vocal supporters, and the fan community has publicly discussed how to improve the singing culture. Expect a reasonably lively atmosphere for top fixtures, quieter than comparable-sized clubs for mid-table opponents.

Post-Match

After the final whistle, most fans return to Waldplatz by tram or walk the 15 minutes back through the Sportforum. Cliff's Brauwerk, a small craft microbrewery on Leibnizstrasse around 15 minutes from the arena, fills with football fans post-match - a good stop if you prefer a quieter craft beer to the Waldplatz pubs. The Barfussgasschen area in central Leipzig - known locally as the Drallewatsch - is the main strip of bars and pubs in the old town and is popular for post-match drinks. Trams back toward the city centre run frequently but get very crowded immediately after the final whistle - waiting 10-15 minutes at the Sportforum stop before boarding is worth it.

💡

Visitor Tips

  • Arrive at least 45-60 minutes before kickoff. The Sportforum tram stop gets very busy in the final 20 minutes and LVB trams fill up fast
  • Waldplatz pubs (Mick's Pub, Sky-Pub) open from 3-5pm - get there early on big matchdays as the area fills quickly before kickoff
  • Post-match trams are packed for the first 15-20 minutes. If you are not in a hurry, wait at the Sportforum stop and let the initial crush pass
