Real Sociedad Tickets & Matchday Guide
Reale Arena • San Sebastián2025/26 Season
How to Buy Real Sociedad Tickets
We cover every path into the stadium: official club channels, officially authorized hospitality partners, and vetted resellers. Each evaluated honestly with realistic expectations so you know exactly what to expect.
Official Real Sociedad Tickets
Reale Arena holds 40,177 fans. Around 38,000 are season ticket holders (Txarteldunak in Basque) with a waiting list of over 3,300 - that route is not open to visiting fans. The practical official-channel option is an RS Fan membership (check the website for current pricing), which opens a priority purchase window for most La Liga fixtures before general sale. Big fixtures - the Athletic Club derby, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and the final home league match - are excluded from RS Fan access entirely. For those games, hospitality or the secondary market are the realistic options.
RS Fan membership - the accessible priority route:
- • RS Fan is Real Sociedad's supporter membership, open to anyone worldwide - check the official site for current pricing
- • Members get a priority window to buy remaining tickets for most home La Liga matches before general sale opens
- • Four fixture types are explicitly excluded from RS Fan access: Athletic Club derby, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and the final home La Liga match of the season
- • RS Fan membership is also the entry point to join the season ticket waiting list
- • Register at realsociedad.eus before purchasing tickets
How the priority system works:
- • Txarteldunak (season ticket holders) occupy their fixed seats for all home La Liga matches - they do not buy match-by-match
- • Socios (full club members) get the first window for remaining seats - but the waiting list is over 3,300 long
- • RS Fan members get the next window - covering most mid-table and Europa League fixtures
- • General sale opens after all priority windows close - for popular fixtures this is typically nothing or very limited
- • Ticket availability appears on realsociedad.eus/en/entradas approximately 6-8 weeks before each match
REALZALE - the loyalty rewards program (separate from ticketing):
- • REALZALE INCONDICIONAL is Real Sociedad's loyalty cashback scheme - members earn points at partner stores (including BM Supermercados) that convert to rebates on membership fees
- • RS Laguna is a free entry tier within REALZALE for non-members - it does not give ticket priority
- • REALZALE is a rewards overlay on top of membership, not a route to ticket access
Real Sociedad Ticket Strategy
- RS Fan membership is worth it if you are visiting for a mid-table fixture - it gives a genuine priority window before general sale
- For the Athletic Club derby, Real Madrid, or Barcelona - RS Fan does not help. Use hospitality or LFT well in advance
- San Sebastian is a destination city in its own right - plan around a fixture you can realistically attend rather than chasing the biggest game

Pre-Match Bars for Real Sociedad Matches
San Sebastian's matchday drinking culture is centred on the pintxos bar scene in the Parte Vieja (Old Town), approximately 2-3 km from the stadium. The tradition is to move between multiple bars, having one or two pintxos and a glass of txakoli at each stop before making your way to Reale Arena.
Bar Sport

Bar Gorriti

Entry notes: Open to all. Get there early on matchdays as it fills fast.
Bars near Reale Arena (Madrid Etorbidea area)
Walking distance from the stadium
Atmosphere: Local neighbourhood bars, Real Sociedad scarves and flags, pre-match atmosphere
Small bars along Madrid Etorbidea and surrounding streets fill with locals in the hour before kick-off. Look for Real Sociedad scarves in the windows. A more traditional ground-level matchday experience.
Entry notes: Open to all. Cash-only in some smaller bars.
Pintxos Strategy Before the Match
- The Parte Vieja is the best pre-match experience in La Liga - arrive 2-3 hours before kick-off and do a proper pintxos crawl
- Order txakoli (local sparkling white wine) poured from height at every bar - the aeration is part of the tradition
- One or two pintxos per bar is the format - graze across 4-5 bars rather than sitting down for a full meal
- Check your tram timing - the 15-minute journey from the Parte Vieja area means leaving approximately 40 minutes before kick-off
Matchday Traditions and Atmosphere
The Pintxos Crawl
San Sebastian is one of the world's great food cities, and the matchday tradition reflects this entirely. Supporters spend the hours before kick-off moving between bars in the Parte Vieja (Old Town), ordering pintxos and txakoli (local sparkling white wine) at each stop. The ritual is as important as the match itself. Bars on Fermín Calbetón and surrounding streets fill with locals from noon on matchdays. The Parte Vieja has more bars per square metre than almost anywhere in Europe, and the quality is exceptional throughout.
Basque Identity at Reale Arena
Real Sociedad is one of two major Basque clubs, and the club's identity is deeply tied to the region. Matches against Athletic Club (the Basque derby) carry an intensity that goes beyond sport - it is the defining fixture of the Basque football calendar, contested between two clubs with shared cultural roots but fierce rivalry. San Sebastian (Donostia in Basque) is bilingual, and Basque language is heard throughout the city and stadium. The atmosphere at Reale Arena is warm but intensely local.
Inside Reale Arena
The 2019 renovation of Anoeta removed the athletics track that had previously separated fans from the pitch, transforming the sightlines and atmosphere. Reale Arena now brings supporters much closer to the action, and the compact redesign creates a noticeably more intense environment than the old configuration. The Amara district location makes it easy to walk to and from the city centre, and the stadium holds 40,177 - large enough for a proper atmosphere but compact enough that there are no bad seats.
Post-Match
After the match, supporters typically return to the Parte Vieja or the Gros neighbourhood for more pintxos. San Sebastian's nightlife is centred on the Old Town and Gros, with bars staying open late. The city is compact and walkable, so getting back to a hotel in the centre takes 25-30 minutes on foot along the Urumea River. The post-match atmosphere continues in the same bars that hosted the pre-match - it is a full day rather than just a match.
Visitor Tips
- Don't skip the pintxos crawl - San Sebastian's Parte Vieja is the best pre-match experience in La Liga
- Txakoli (local Basque sparkling wine) is the traditional matchday drink - order it poured from height to aerate it
- The tram stop adjacent to the stadium makes getting back to the centre straightforward after the match
