Official Southampton FC Tickets

Membership Required
Season Tickets Sold Out
Face Value

St Mary's Stadium holds 32,384 fans and Southampton's season tickets have sold out for two consecutive seasons. A paid Saints Membership is required to access match ticket sales, and even then, members get priority windows based on tier. The good news for Championship visitors: demand is lower for most league fixtures compared to the Premier League years, so membership plus timing usually gets you in.

Quick reality check for visitors:
  • Portsmouth (South Coast Derby): The hardest ticket at St Mary's. One of English football's fiercest local rivalries, 19 miles apart. Tickets rarely reach open general sale. Hospitality or verified marketplaces are your realistic options
  • FA Cup ties against Premier League clubs, promotion-deciding matches: High demand. Members with purchase history get priority. Marketplaces are a strong backup
  • Mid-table Championship fixtures: Good availability through the membership general sale window. A Saints Membership and decent timing should be enough
  • Cup competitions and lower-profile league fixtures: Best targets for first-time visitors through official channels
The membership system:
  • Southampton requires a paid Saints Membership to purchase match tickets. The standard adult membership is competitively priced for a season-long benefit
  • Membership Plus is a higher tier introduced for 2025/26 that includes a ticket to a selected fixture and access to a stadium tour, alongside all standard benefits
  • Season ticket holders get automatic access to every home match, but 2025/26 season tickets sold out and a waiting list is in operation
  • Members receive priority purchase windows before general sale opens. The more matches you have attended, the earlier your access window
How the ticket sale process works:
  • Season ticket holders have automatic access to all home matches
  • Members then receive tiered priority windows. Those with previous purchase history get the earliest access
  • General sale to all members opens after the priority windows close. For most Championship fixtures, tickets are still available at this stage
  • Members also get a discount on match ticket prices compared to non-member pricing
Important for international visitors:
  • The official website at southamptonfc.com is fully functional in English and accepts international credit cards
  • Tickets are digital. Have your confirmation and ID ready on your phone
  • Southampton is a major port city with a cruise terminal, so the club is used to international visitors. The ticketing system is straightforward once you have a membership
  • A valid passport or photo ID may be required at the stadium gate
💡

Southampton Ticket Strategy

  • For most Championship matches, a Saints Membership and checking the ticket page when general sale opens is enough. Demand is manageable for routine league fixtures
  • For the South Coast Derby (vs Portsmouth), FA Cup ties against big clubs, and any promotion deciders, buy a membership AND look at hospitality or marketplaces as a backup. These matches sell out through priority windows
  • The Northam Stand is where the most vocal fans sit and produces the best atmosphere. The Itchen Stand offers the best views of the pitch

Matchday Traditions & Atmosphere

Pre-Match Build-Up

St Mary's Stadium sits in the Chapel district on the eastern edge of Southampton's city centre, a 20-minute walk from Southampton Central station. Many fans make the walk down the waterfront from the city centre, passing the old docks and maritime quarter. Scarf sellers and food vendors line the approaches on Britannia Road. Others head to the pubs around the stadium or in the city centre before walking or catching the matchday shuttle bus. The club operates fan zones outside the Northam Stand with big screens, live music, and food and drink stalls that open several hours before kickoff.

Inside St Mary's

The Northam Stand is the heartbeat of St Mary's, housing around 10,000 of the most vocal supporters. The singing starts before the teams emerge, led by 'Oh When The Saints Go Marching In,' the club's anthem since the 1960s. The compact, enclosed design of St Mary's means the sound carries well around the ground. The Itchen Stand opposite houses the press box and directors' area, with the best sightlines from the lower tier central sections. Away fans are housed in the northeast corner of the Chapel Stand.

The South Coast Derby (vs Portsmouth)

The rivalry between Southampton and Portsmouth is one of the most intense in English football. The two cities sit 19 miles apart on the Hampshire coast, and the fixture carries enormous local significance. The clubs went 13 years without meeting in a league match before reuniting in the Championship in September 2025. When the South Coast Derby is at St Mary's, the atmosphere reaches its peak. Tickets for this fixture almost never reach open general sale.

Post-Match

After the final whistle, fans stream toward Southampton Central station or the city centre. The walk back takes around 20 minutes and can be congested immediately after the match. The matchday shuttle bus runs from the stadium to Southampton Central and Town Quay after the game. Many supporters head into the city centre for food and drinks, with the Oxford Street area and the Old Town near the waterfront both popular post-match destinations.

💡

Visitor Tips

  • Arrive at least 45-60 minutes early for big matches. The stadium approaches get busy and the fan zones are worth exploring before kickoff
  • The Northam Stand produces the best atmosphere. The Itchen Stand lower tier central sections offer the best views
  • Southampton is a port city with a cruise terminal. If you are visiting on a cruise, St Mary's is reachable by taxi or shuttle from the terminal in about 10 minutes

Pre-Match Bars for Southampton FC Matches

Southampton's pre-match scene is split between pubs near the stadium in the Chapel and Northam areas and the city centre bars around Oxford Street and the Old Town. The stadium is close enough to the centre that many fans start in town and walk to the ground. The local beer is usually Ringwood or Flack Manor, and a pre-match pie from the vendors on Britannia Road is part of the ritual.

The Chapel Arms

Short walk from St Mary's Stadium

Atmosphere: Traditional pub, Live sport, Beer garden

A friendly traditional pub about 500 metres from St Mary's Stadium. Shows live sport on big screens with Sky Sports and BT Sport. Serves a good selection of real ales and lagers alongside pub classics. The beer garden is a draw on sunny matchdays. Opens early on matchdays (noon on weekends, and opens on midweek matchdays when normally closed on Mondays).

Entry notes: Welcomes both home and away fans. Gets busy on matchdays, so arrive early for a seat. A natural first stop for fans walking from the city centre to the stadium.

The Grapes

City centre, 20-minute walk from the stadium

Atmosphere: Historic pub, Titanic connection, Live sport

One of Southampton's most famous pubs, with a historic connection to the Titanic era. Located on Oxford Street in the city centre, it serves as both a pub and inn. A proper old-school Southampton boozer with a loyal local following and a buzzing atmosphere on matchdays. Big screens show live football.

Entry notes: Open to all fans. A popular gathering point before walking to the stadium. The Oxford Street location puts you in the heart of Southampton's pub scene.

The Rockstone

City centre, 20-minute walk from the stadium

Atmosphere: Real ale pub, Board games, Burgers

A well-regarded real ale pub in the Portswood Road area known for its craft beer selection, burgers, and board games. A more relaxed pre-match option for fans who prefer a quality beer over a rowdy sports bar atmosphere. A good choice for visitors who want to experience Southampton's independent pub scene.

Entry notes: Open to all. A quieter, more relaxed option compared to the pubs directly around the stadium. Worth the short detour if you appreciate craft beer.

The Scholars Arms

Short walk from St Mary's Stadium

Atmosphere: Friendly pub, Good food, Welcoming

A friendly pub within walking distance of St Mary's Stadium that welcomes both home and away fans wearing colours. Good food and a decent range of beers make it a solid pre-match option. Less hectic than some of the closer pubs on busy matchdays.

Entry notes: One of the more welcoming pubs for visiting supporters. A safe choice if you are an away fan looking for a relaxed pre-match drink near the ground.

💡

Pre-Match Strategy

  • The Chapel Arms is the best near-stadium option. It opens early on matchdays and has a beer garden for sunny days
  • The Grapes on Oxford Street is the most iconic Southampton pub. Start there and walk to the ground through the city centre
  • Away fans should note that some pubs on St Mary's Street near the stadium (Kingsland Tavern, Joiners) are home-fan territory. The Scholars Arms and Prince of Wales are more welcoming to visiting supporters
