VfB Stuttgart Tickets & Matchday Guide
MHPArena • Stuttgart2025/26 Season
How to Buy VfB Stuttgart Tickets
We cover every path into the stadium: official club channels, officially authorized hospitality partners, and vetted resellers. Each evaluated honestly with realistic expectations so you know exactly what to expect.
Official VfB Stuttgart Tickets
VfB Stuttgart sell match tickets through their official shop at shop.vfb.de. Club members receive pre-sale rights and a discount on tickets, with full pre-sale access activated after three months of membership. Non-members can purchase tickets in general sale phases if any remain, though demand for top Bundesliga fixtures often exhausts supply before general sale opens.
Quick reality check for visitors:
- • Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Champions League fixtures: High demand, frequently sold out before general sale. Hospitality or secondary market are the realistic options
- • Mid-table Bundesliga opponents: Generally available through member pre-sale and often into general sale. Good target for first-time visitors
- • DFB-Pokal early rounds and Europa League group stage: Better availability. Strong option for visitors who want a guaranteed match
- • General sale: Opens if tickets remain after member and season-ticket-holder phases. Not guaranteed for popular fixtures
VfB club membership and the pre-sale system:
- • Club membership (Vereinsmitglied) gives pre-sale rights for all home matches and a discount per ticket
- • New members who joined on or before June 30, 2025 receive pre-sale rights immediately. Members joining from July 1, 2025 onwards must wait three months before pre-sale access is activated
- • Maximum of two tickets per membership card - you need two memberships to buy two tickets
- • Membership costs a small annual fee. Visit shop.vfb.de/en/club-membership for current pricing and sign-up
- • Season-ticket holders (Dauerkarte) have reserved seats for all home league matches. Remaining inventory then opens to members, then general sale
How the ticket sale process works:
- • Tickets go on sale online at shop.vfb.de, by phone, and in person at VfB fan shops and the fan centre
- • Member pre-sale opens first, typically a week or more before the match. Check the individual fixture page on vfb.de for exact dates
- • Bundesliga tickets in Germany are personalized - your name is registered to the ticket and ID may be checked at the gate. Resale carries risk of entry denial
- • Digital tickets are standard. Download to your phone before arriving at the stadium
What is realistically accessible without membership:
- • Mid-table and lower-half Bundesliga opponents: Check general sale on shop.vfb.de. Availability is not guaranteed but exists for many fixtures
- • Top opponents (Bayern, Dortmund, Leverkusen): General sale rarely reaches. Join as a member or use hospitality
- • European fixtures: Check vfb.de directly - allocation rules vary by competition and UEFA requirements
- • Our take: A club membership is worth buying if you are planning a trip specifically to attend a VfB match. The small annual fee and three-month wait are the only barriers
Pricing (when you get through):
- • Multiple price categories depending on seat location and fixture tier. Members receive a meaningful discount compared to standard prices
- • Standing tickets in the Cannstatter Kurve (Stehplatz) are the most affordable category and offer the best atmosphere
- • Check shop.vfb.de for current pricing - prices differ by category and opponent
Stuttgart Ticket Strategy
- Join as a VfB member before your trip - the small annual fee unlocks pre-sale access (after three months for new members from July 2025 onwards) and a ticket discount
- Standing tickets in the Cannstatter Kurve are the most atmospheric option and sell quickly. If the Curva is your priority, check availability as soon as pre-sale opens
- Europa League matches typically have better availability than Bundesliga top fixtures. If your schedule is flexible, these are the easiest official route in

View Hotel →Stuttgart Hotel Strategy for VfB Matches
- Bad Cannstatt is the matchday district - staying there puts you within walking distance of pubs and the stadium, but the area is primarily residential. City centre hotels give more evening options
- Motel One Bad Cannstatt is the pick for fans who want to wake up in matchday territory without the city-centre prices
- Book well in advance for Bayern Munich and Dortmund fixtures - Stuttgart's hotel inventory is smaller than many German cities and prices spike sharply on big matchday weekends
Getting to the MHPArena
The MHPArena is in the NeckarPark in Bad Cannstatt, around 5 km north-east of Stuttgart city centre. Public transport is well organised for matchdays. VfB match tickets double as a free VVS travel pass throughout the entire matchday network - no separate ticket required.

U11 Stadtbahn
Primary Matchday OptionSSB Stadtbahn (Stuttgart)
• NeckarPark (Stadion)
Short walk to stadium gates | U11 | The U11 runs as a special matchday service direct from Hauptbahnhof (Arnulf-Klett-Platz) via Berliner Platz and Charlottenplatz to NeckarPark (Stadion). This is the most direct Stadtbahn route and the recommended option for most fans. The service runs every 7-8 minutes on matchdays before kickoff.
Journey time: Approximately 20 minutes from Hauptbahnhof (Arnulf-Klett-Platz) to NeckarPark (Stadion).
Frequency: Every 7-8 minutes on matchdays. SSB adds additional capacity for large crowds.
Cost: Free with your VfB match ticket (valid on all VVS services throughout matchday). Otherwise standard VVS single fare.
Tips:
- Show your match ticket to inspectors - it covers travel on all VVS lines for the entire matchday
- Catch the U11 from Hauptbahnhof (Arnulf-Klett-Platz) towards NeckarPark. The service is clearly signed on matchdays
- After the match, the U11 back gets very crowded for the first 15-20 minutes. Waiting slightly reduces the crush
S-Bahn to Bad Cannstatt
AlternativeS-Bahn Stuttgart
• Stuttgart Bad Cannstatt
15-minute walk to stadium | S1, S2, S3 | Lines S1, S2, and S3 all stop at Stuttgart Bad Cannstatt. From Bad Cannstatt station it is a 15-minute walk through the Cannstatter Wasen area towards the stadium. This route passes several fan pubs and is popular as a pre-match walk. Note: the NeckarPark S-Bahn stop is suspended from three hours before kickoff until three hours after the match ends on matchdays - use Bad Cannstatt station instead.
Journey time: Around 5 minutes from Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof to Bad Cannstatt, then 15 minutes on foot to the stadium.
Frequency: S1, S2, and S3 run frequently throughout the day. Every 10-15 minutes on most services.
Cost: Free with your VfB match ticket. Otherwise standard VVS fare.
Tips:
- Bad Cannstatt station is the better option if you want to stop at the pre-match pubs - the approach walk passes Karlseck, Sophie's Brauhaus, and several other bars
- On matchdays, the NeckarPark S-Bahn stop is closed - always use Bad Cannstatt station if taking the S-Bahn
Pre-Match Pubs Near the MHPArena
Bad Cannstatt is the matchday district. Most fan pubs are concentrated around Wilhelmsplatz and on the approach roads towards the stadium. The area is easy to reach on the S-Bahn from Hauptbahnhof (one stop, around 5 minutes) and then a relaxed walk to the ground.
Karlseck
10-minute walk from Bad Cannstatt station, close to the stadium
Atmosphere: VfB supporter bar, matchday hub
The dedicated VfB fan bar on the approach to the stadium, at Daimlerstrasse 125. Ceiling covered in Cannstatter Kurve scarves, walls lined with club memorabilia and red leather benches in VfB colours. Described across multiple Stuttgart matchday guides as the essential pre-match stop. Fills up quickly before kickoff.
Entry notes: Home fans only. Expect Cannstatter Kurve colours. Gets very crowded in the final hour before big fixtures.
Palm-Beach Stuttgart
Directly adjacent to the MHPArena, between the Porsche-Arena and the stadium
Atmosphere: Sports bar, large screens, billiards, darts
The closest bar to the stadium gates, on Mercedesstrasse directly next to the MHPArena. Multiple large screens showing VfB matches, plus billiards, darts and table football. Stuttgarter Nachrichten has covered VfB fans gathering here on matchdays. The most convenient option if you are arriving late or coming straight from the U11 stop.
Entry notes: Open to all fans. Reservations recommended for big fixtures - minimum spend applies on matchdays.
Sophie's Brauhaus Bad Cannstatt
10-minute walk from Bad Cannstatt station, 10-minute walk from stadium
Atmosphere: Traditional brauhaus, relaxed, food-focused
The Bad Cannstatt branch of Stuttgart's well-established Sophie's Brauhaus, on Felgergasse near Wilhelmsplatz. A cosy beer hall with courtyard, house beer on draught, and hearty food. Less intensely ultra-focused than Karlseck, making it the better option for fans who want to eat before the match.
Entry notes: Open to all fans. Good option for a pre-match meal as well as drinks.
The Corner
Wilhelmstrasse 1, Bad Cannstatt, 10-12 minute walk from stadium
Atmosphere: Neighbourhood sports bar, lively
A corner bar at Wilhelmstrasse 1 with two large screens and darts. VfB fan decorations throughout and a young, local crowd on matchdays. Slightly less crowded than Karlseck in the lead-up to kickoff, with a friendly neighbourhood feel confirmed in recent reviews.
Entry notes: Open to all fans.
Pre-Match Strategy
- Take the S-Bahn to Bad Cannstatt rather than the U11 if you want to stop at pubs - the 15-minute walk to the stadium passes all the main fan bars
- Arrive in Bad Cannstatt at least 90 minutes before kickoff for Bayern Munich and Dortmund fixtures. Bars fill up and service slows significantly in the final 45 minutes
- Karlseck is the classic matchday spot but gets very crowded close to kickoff. Sophie's Brauhaus is a calmer alternative if you want to eat. Palm-Beach is the pick if you are arriving right before kickoff and want to be as close to the gates as possible
Matchday Traditions and Atmosphere
Pre-Match Build-Up
Most fans gather in Bad Cannstatt, the district directly adjacent to the stadium. Bars along Wilhelmsplatz and towards the stadium fill up from early afternoon on matchdays. Karlseck at Daimlerstrasse 125 is the classic VfB fan bar, ceiling covered in Cannstatter Kurve scarves and walls lined with memorabilia. Palm-Beach Stuttgart on Mercedesstrasse is the closest bar to the stadium gates. Sophie's Brauhaus on Felgergasse is a popular stop for fans who want to eat before the match. Before the first home league game of each season, Commando Cannstatt 97 organises the Karawane Cannstatt - a fan march that has run since 2006. Thousands gather at the roundabout in front of Cannstatter Carre at midday, with the march to the stadium starting at 12:30. The traditional dress code is all in white (Brustring jerseys). From Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof, Bad Cannstatt is one stop on the S1, S2, or S3 S-Bahn - around five minutes. Fans then walk the 15 minutes to the stadium or take the U11 Stadtbahn direct to NeckarPark (Stadion).
Inside the MHPArena
The Cannstatter Kurve is the home end and the heart of VfB's matchday. The lower tier holds around 8,268 standing places (Stehplatz), making it one of the larger safe-standing sections in German football. Ultra group Commando Cannstatt 97 leads the noise from this end, coordinating flags, tifos, and chants throughout the match. The signature chant is 'Nur der VfB' ('Only VfB'), which rings out throughout the match and is heard clearly from the adjacent stands. 'Karawane Cannstatt' is also sung inside the ground, connecting the pre-match march tradition to the match itself. Beer is sold inside the stadium, as is standard in Bundesliga grounds. The MHPArena was substantially rebuilt between 2021 and 2024, with a new Haupttribune (main stand) completed in April 2024, bringing capacity to over 60,000. The compact shape after renovation makes the atmosphere dense for big fixtures.
Post-Match
After the final whistle, most fans head back towards Bad Cannstatt station or the Cannstatter Wasen area. Bars around Wilhelmsplatz stay busy for an hour or more after the match. The U11 Stadtbahn back to Hauptbahnhof gets crowded immediately after the final whistle - waiting 15-20 minutes before heading to the stop reduces the crush. Fans with match tickets can use VVS public transport throughout the day without a separate ticket.
Visitor Tips
- VfB match tickets double as a free VVS travel pass for the entire matchday - no separate transport ticket needed. Use it to get to the ground and back into the city after the match
- Arrive at Bad Cannstatt at least 90 minutes before kickoff to get a spot in the pubs. They fill quickly on matchdays against top opponents
- Standing tickets in the Cannstatter Kurve give the best atmosphere but require a VfB membership to purchase during pre-sale. Seats in the adjacent stands still have a good view of the Kurve and pick up much of the noise
